We worked with a customer - a rapidly growing product development
company - who specializes in developing ERP application for industries
in food processing, sheet metal fabrication and logistics. The
application under test has ten manufacturing process controls
modules to provide business solution for enterprise related process
to the SME segment. The application was developed in Java and
used crystal report with Oracle back-end. However, client management
was low in delivery confidence to implement the product at its
customer site.
We invested effort and time to understand the core problem of
the client. Taking charge as quality partner, we identified a
list of issues that were critical in nature that needed immediate
action. Next, as part of streamlining the test process, documentation
was introduced, which enabled to document test cases in a user-friendly
and reusable format. Core techniques of STEMTM- BEST, QF, and EFF - were
applied to increase the depth and breadth of test cases.
The outcome of this engagement resulted in reduced
test cycle, better test coverage, and improved documentation leading
to reduced operational cost for the client. Further, the independent
third party product validation helped in customer buy-in of its product
thereby enhancing delivery confidence of the client management in seeking
additional customers.
