The tools in STEMTM are the application of techniques of STEMTM in the
test lifecycle. These are applied to evolve test strategy, estimate effort,
design test cases, assess regression, and ensure completeness.
- Goal-oriented strategy: Understand the goal of what types of defects
to uncover and then evolve the cost-effective strategy using the EFF technique.
- Hierarchical test design: Design test scenarios and then cases in a
hierarchical manner using the BEST approach.
- Risk based planning: Come with the test plan based on the factors that
are critical to quality.
- Fault catalog: Use history of previous faults to look for faults
in the current software.
- Requirement traceability: Traces scenarios/cases to features to
ensure completeness.
- Interaction matrix: Understand the degree of interaction of features
to evolve cost-effective regression strategy.
