Training the testers
The Hindu: Education Plus Tiruchirapalli: Online edition: Oct 18, 2004
A few years ago, software testing was done in an ad-hoc
manner with testers having lower awareness on strategy,
test design techniques and methodologies.
With customers today demanding high quality products,
and the serious implications defects have, companies have
understood that testing is important for product success.
Software companies have started to view testing as an
integral part of development and delivery. This is evident
from the advertisements for various positions like Test
Engineer, Sr. Test Engineer, Test Architect, Test Lead,
Manager - Testing, Director-Testing etc.
Today, it is mandatory for test engineers to possess sound
knowledge in testing techniques, tools, and process. And
the software test-engineering course offered by STAG Software
aims at laying a solid foundation on key concepts in testing
with exhaustive practice sessions.
Unfortunately, we have few good courses that can teach the
concepts and also help to practise the same.
The company's `Education Services' division offers a variety
of workshops on test engineering such as Software test engineering,
Test automation, Performance/Load testing, Structured unit
testing and Test planning/strategy development.
The company has trained over 1,600 engineers through
90 workshops all over India.
It has trained engineers in companies such as Sun, GE,
Novell, Oracle, Philips, i2, HCL Technologies, Cisco, SAP Labs,
Broadcom, ANZ-IT, Deutsche Software, Sasken, Sharp, HP,
says C. Sujatha, Manager Testing Engineering.
The course is designed to address the needs of the market
and create test practitioners who can independently plan,
design, document, and execute tests effectively.
In addition to the theory sessions, there will be product demos,
case study discussions, problem solving, and discussion-oriented assessment.
